Welcome to our last September post of Artisan Wednesday Wow! I’ve got a little Halloween creation to share again today and while it still may seem a bit early for Halloween, I know how fast September flew by and with that, before we know it Halloween will be upon us and we’ll be hearing the delightful sounds of little Trick-or-Treaters at our door! I love the fun and brightly colored decor of Halloween.. and today’s project is just that, bright and fun!

I have a confession, I’m not actually crazy for EATING candy corn.. I actually don’t really like it, but I LOVE the paper version of candy corn and how it seems to scream Halloween to me! If you saw my post on my wooden pumpkin I had mentioned how if Halloween Hello was available as a download I would have created a wooden candy corn to look like the one on this card.. little did I know, it was released the day of that post. So, I hope to get to giving that a try as well but in the mean time have created a paper version and really like how it turned out!

If you’re not yet into using MDS with the silhouette, I hope you’ll give this cute paper creation a try! The background on this card started with a technique I was sharing with my technique club, color gradients. While the pattern here is a little different than really life candy corn, I was going for the gradient look and it seemed to have passed the test.. until my 9 yr old son came along to critique my creation! … I think ‘Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator’ may just be one of his future job titles! The color was applied to the card after heat embossing the Positively Chevron image with versamark and clear embossing powder. I applied the color with a dauber and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink and Daffodil Delight Classic Ink and then left the top section as is. Here’s a little closer version of that candy corn that I created with the Petite Pennant builder punch and some DSP.

What’s a card that says, ‘it’s all about the candy’ without the candy to go with it?! I used the Pumpkin Pie Goodie Gear bags to fill a bag of candy corn to go with this cute card. Since we don’t really give cards for Halloween, I thought I’d attach this ‘card’ to a Tag a Bag chevron bag and fill it with Halloween treats to use as my gift to each of my boys this year.. this way, this cute card is sure to get some use. That’ll free up the little bag of candy corn to share with some friends!

Here’s how I embellished the tag that is in the Goodie Gear kit to match the card. Those splotches are from none other than, Gorgeous Grunge.

If you’re as crazy for candy corn (or the look of the paper version) as I am, I hope you’re inspired. Now, I know that Becky will have something great to inspire me so I’m off to hop along to see what she has in store! Join me and don’t forget to hop all the way through to Mercedes!
