Artisan Wednesday Wow ~ Burlap & Blooms Meets Hello Sailor

Welcome back to another week of Artisan Wedenesday Wow! Somehow we’re already in week two of April…. and SPRING is finally here!  Even though, it finally sprung, I’ve got another High Tide Summery project to share with you today!

Sometimes the products that come in our Artisan boxes really make me think outside the box and I end up putting things together that I would never have thought of otherwise. Today’s project is one of those.  We got the Burlap and Blooms wreath kit in our April box as well as Hello Sailor stamp set and High Tide DSP along with the lovely striped Pacific Point and Summer Starfruit ribbon, so I got it in my head that I wanted to create a nautical-ish themed wreath.  … I wasn’t sure at first what exactly I was going to do or how it would turn out but I got playing around with different things, pulled out my e-cutter (and MDS of course) and came up with this little decor ensemble.

I applied a large star punch from MDS into my e-cutter software and cut it out as large as I could (on a 12 x 12 sheet).  I used that and traced it onto some DSP backing to use as my star base and then also used it as a tracer to cut segments out of the DSP to layer on the star base.  You can sort of see here how the star is scored to give it dimension.

I also applied ‘ahoy’ into the e-cutter software and added an offset image so that I could layer the Summer Starfruit layer onto the Pacific Point layer.  I cut the anchor to go with it and added some Silver Bakers Twine.  The wreath in behind the star is the wreath from the Burlap and Blooms kit, wrapped in the Pacific Point striped ribbon and then layered with some ‘rope’ made out of the Burlap from the wreath kit.

I wanted to create a frame or chalkboard to go with it, so I covered one in matching DSP and used elements from the stamp set and DSP to embellish it a little.

The little bow on the flags is strands of both the Pacific Point and Summer Starfruit striped ribbon.

Of course I wasn’t going to let all of those wonderful flower pieces go to waste so I created another chalkboard frame to use just some of them up.. there are still plenty left over!

I added a few more flower shapes by punching out some smaller flowers to fill the gaps on the frame.  I made use of the shapes from the kit though and punched them out of the pieces from the kit.

My son has already claimed the Nautical items (they scream, ‘Pirate’ to him) but I was thinking they’d be great for a lake house or cottage, a boys room or even to decorate for a party.  Do you need a decor piece for a room in your house?! … Craft outside the box and make up your own decor items that you can customize to be exactly what you’re dreaming of!
