Angry Birds Birthday

Welcome back again today!

Technically, our Artisan Wednesday Wow posts go live on Tuesday night so really, I’m not double-posting today but I did promise to come back with the Angry Birds version of my sunburst card so I wanted to make good on that and am back to share it with you now.

Both of my boys wanted an Angry Birds party this year!  That was an easy plan to run with since there are so many fun Angry Birds birthday party ideas out there!  I’ll come back to share the birthday party with you in a separate post but for now will share just the card.  Since our Winter ran so long here we ended up having both parties together even though their birthdays are 3 months apart.  Our older son wanted to wait to do an outdoor Angry Birds party rather than having it in the snowy Spring.  We planned on having them one day after the other but the weather didn’t co-operate yet again the day of the party, so we did a double-whammy and held them together.  The kids had a blast though and now they are thinking of doing a double Despicable Me party next year!

Anyhow, here is the pop-up card I made for them.  With some help from Pinterest and a tutorial on how to do the punch art Angry Birds characters, here is what I came up with.

As mentioned in my post showcasing the Undefined Hockey stamp that I carved, if you trace your sunburst pattern on two pieces of cardstock you’ll be left with enough pieces to create two sunbursts.  I chose Marina Mist and Soft Sky for this card.  Sorry, that cloudy embossing folder is no longer available but I had to use it as I thought it was perfect for this card to add a little detail to the sunburst! (the sunburst was first attached to a piece of copy paper to hold it all together before running it through the Big Shot).

When I started their cards, I thought it would be fun to use the Pop n’ Cuts card base (along with the Dress Form Pop n’ Cuts) to add a pop-up tower inside the card.   I just had to cut off the base and the top of the dress form leaving what looks like table legs intact.  On the 2nd version (not pictured), I layered the blocks a little differently so that they didn’t look so even or symmetrically spaced.

Evenly spaced blocks of wood for a tower or blocks lined up askew, they loved their cards!  Here’s the duo on Lennon’s actual birthday!  I always love the result of punch art but when it puts a smile on my kids’ faces… even better!

Thanks for stopping back to see my projects again today! .. maybe even for the 2nd time!

We’re off to paint some Man Tracker faces (aka: beards) so I’ll have to come back later with a supply list (it’s a LONG one!)
