Celebrate!

We definitely have plenty to celebrate, how about you?!  I've also got plenty of photos to share…this one is picture heavy, I've got lots to catch up on sharing with you!

We're still counting down the days and are closing in on the the day that Ethan will turn 7!  We've already completed the countdown to his first time getting 'highlights' …. and so has his class!  He shared his countdown at school and was so excited to share with his teacher that she already knew all about them by the time we arrived at our Parent/Teacher conference!  Ethan was eager to show us his work and we are very proud of his efforts and a job well done at school!

I wanted to come back and share the projects of a class all about 'celebrations'.  We will create these projects at my Birthday Project Class.  One of my favorite things about this class is that participants will learn how to create two different types of 'paper bows' that will be versatile to use in many of their paper crafting projects or for gift wrapping!

The first date for this class will be tomorrow (Sunday March 20th) and I will offer an alternate date as well after my little escapades to the ER interrupted my class schedule.  Stay tuned for that date.

Much of the paper these are embellished with is from the Ice Cream Parlour set in the Sale A Bration Catalogue.  As you know, brights are not my norm, but I really like these ones!  Don't forget Sale A Bration ends March. 31st, get your free goodies by spending $60 before then!

The bottle is inspired by one on the front of the Sale A Bration Mini Catalogue.  My goal was to fill it with Skittles, but is was just too bright. …forgive me, the treats had to look pretty in the bottle!  <wink>

I created a similar explosion box to the one pictured at a Valentine class.   It was a hit, so I added it to this class as well.

The gift card holder is one I've seen created by many crafters and fellow-demonstrators.  Thanks for sharing the inspiration!  This one is definitely simple to make, or as Ethan would say, 'Easy Peasy'!

These projects were created with

Ink & Stamps: Party Hearty, Tiny Tags, Punch Bunch, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait

Paper: Ice Cream Parlour (SAB), Whisper White, Old Olive, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz

Accessories: Many Punches (comment or email to ask if you'd like to know a particular one), Brights Brads, Pear Pizzazz ribbon, Melon Mambo pom pom trim, Linen thread, Pumpkin Pie 1/8" Taffeta, Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta, Pumpkin Pie 1/4" Grosgrain, Ice Cream Parlour Buttons, Two Tags Die

With all the talk of the highlights, I can't leave you without sharing a photo of Ethan's new 'do'! Notice the new gap in the front of his mouth?!  He has grown up so much in just one week, it makes me a little teary… What age did you notice the most change in your kids?  I can't believe the toothless grin stage is here (well, the 2nd toothless grin stage, the first was so many years ago already!)

Here's Ethan's trusty sidekick, 'Joker'!  …he IS such a little jokester!  …and a sneaky little guy!  Forgive me for the lighting on this one (still figuring out all this photography stuff!) ….this mask is so creepy and hilarious all at the same time that I couldn't resist taking some photos! …even better with the sword and his Paper Jams guitar!  Gotta love that hair, he had quite the fuzzy 'do' goin' on that day!  Seriously, makes me laugh!

Enjoy your Sunday! Hope you enjoyed the photos and a nice LONG read!

  1. Hi Alanna, the gift card holder is so cute! Do you ever offer a drop in class? or do you prefer people to sign up for a certain amount of classes?
ps. my kids thought the pic of Lennon aka The Joker, was hilarious!

  2. I love, love, love the new birthday class stuff!  I will for sure sign up for the next one.  The 'bow' on the gift card holder looks very interesting…I have never seen one like it and I can't wait to try it..  I also love the bright colours in the Ice Cream Parlour set…..so very cheerful and uplifting I think.  You do awesome work Alanna.  Thaks for being so good at what you do:)
I must say, Ethan does look very grown up with his new do…..and I love the highlights:)  As for Lennon…..HI-LAR-I-OUS!  He is so creative when he plays:)  Can't wait to see what he comes up with next……..or what Ethan's new fashion change will be….first the highlights….What's next I wonder.  The girls will love them…..that is if they don't already chase them:)

    1. lol, Susie! …right now Lennon scares the girls away with this mask! Delaney isn’t too fond of it, can’t say I blame her! ..he actually scared off his cousin, Konnor with it too. We had to put it away for awhile so that his friends could play peacefully! And yes, Ethan is very grown-up these days! Thanks girls for your comments/compliments! I’ll keep you posted for sure on the upcoming date!

  3. Love the photos of the boys–Ethan's new 'do' is so cute.
I definitaly want to take this class–love the Ice Cream Parlor paper, etc.  These ideas are so cute and I am looking forward to a date that I can make them with you all. Please keep me posted on a date for the class.  I will be off for a couple of weeks after my surgery tomorrow, so I should have some free time.  Thank you for sharing these ideas, Alanna–you are a very talented women!!
