Welcome to the March edition of Facebook Friday. The projects we have to share today were all featured on the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page last Friday and today we are here to share all of the details.
I do have a couple of tutorials for you to show how I made the Canvas Spiral Flower and how I dyed the ombre fringe but first take a peek at this dressed up treat bag from the Celebrations Basics Kit.
This project spiralled out of a technique that I did with my technique club this month. I started dying canvas to do a different technique that I’ll bring back to you in next week’s post and after taking a couple of different directions along the way, it turned into this multi-toned Canvas Spiral Flower. I’ll show you in the photos below how I created this look. *if the photos aren’t large enough to read the instructions, just click on the photo to view a larger version.
Now, that you’ve died your canvas, check out the photos below for a little extra info and to see how I assembled the flower.
Look closely at the photos, you’ll see that I have fringe cut the pieces of the spiral flower that I used to create the center of the flower. *note: I did NOT use the fringe scissors and instead used my paper snips.
I hope the photos help show how to color the canvas and create this multi-toned canvas flower. Let me know if you have any questions!
Once, I had the flower all created I wanted to come up with a fancy way to dress it up to embellish this bag so I got playing around and ended up pairing it with some fringed streamers from the Celebrations Add-On Kit (that I dyed in an ombre pattern ~ tutorial below) and a splash of Gold Sequin Trim. Now, here’s a little closer view of that Ombre Crepe Paper Fringe and a tutorial on how you can do this yourself in any colors you choose!
Note: The tutorial shows you how to make enough ombre fringe for 3 flowers. Again, if the instructions show up too small on your screen, just click the photo to see a larger version. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I really like how it all came together to embellish this happy little treat bag. Now what should go inside?
Let’s hop along to Becky next.. funny how things work out when we all work from the same box of stampin’ goodies! Once I got reading Becky’s post, I realized she had some dyed crepe paper too! Be sure to check out her version and the video tutorial from Stampin’ Up! that she shared! You’ll learn some more ways to create the Ombre look as well as other materials you can achieve this look with! .. don’t forget to stop in at each of the Artisan’s blogs!
I just love this! I will be back to learn how to make it!
Wow!!! Lots of details!! wanna come over at play with me?
