Welcome to February! HOW can that be already?! A whole month of 2014 is behind us and with that a month full of projects are too and we’re into our February box of stamping goodies that we get to create for you with! This Occasions Catalogue is so full of fun stuff that it’s exciting to come back each week with new things to share with you! Last month, I dedicated the month to Valentines projects and today’s project is quite a different theme than that. I have used a similar layout to one that I used last month for this card but the theme is a whole other direction! Here’s the card I have for you this week!
Now, this may look like it’s just all punch art .. BUT… we got the fringe scissors in our box this month and so I wanted to incorporate those into my design and came up with a few fun ways of doing that! Have a look! Can you guess which elements are created with the Fringe Scissors?!
I created the rays on the sun, the grass edge and the yellow lines (Daffodil Delight) all with the Fringe Scissors. To get the rays on the sun, I snipped a border out of Daffodil Delight and a border out of Pumpkin Pie and then ripped out every 2nd fringe on each color. Next, I adhered them to eachother by offsetting them so that each color filled in the gap of the next color… I hope that makes sense?! As I was making this for the sun, I was thinking it would make a great mane for a Lion! I covered the back of the circle of the sun with Sticky Strip and then wrapped the fringe border behind the circle. I kinda liked how it looked imperfect so I chose not to ‘clean up’ the edges to make it more even. The little pieces I tore off the Daffodil Delight strip became the dotted-line on the road. To get the hilly road, I just drew a line and then traced that onto the Gumball Green and Basic Black layers and hand cut them. I cut two layers of the Gumball Green layer so that I could use the Fringe Scissors on one layer to make it look like the grass was growing up to the edge of the road. I textured the remaining Gumball Green with the Decorative Dots folder from Sale a Bration! I used the Basic Metal Buttons from the Occasions Catalogue to embellish the wheels. The ‘Polaroid Frame’ is from the On Film Framelits and the DSP (both for the frame and for the card background) is from the Kaleidoscope DSP pack. I layered all of the elements for the photo frame to a piece of coaster board for durability and dimension. It made keeping all of these elements together a cinch!
What would you use a card with this greeting for?! My kids had all kinds of scenarios going for what this card could be used for! I hope you’re inspired to play with your Fringe Scissor and a little punch art is always a lot of fun!
Hop along with me to see what Becky has and always be sure to hop through the rest of the Artisan’s projects to see what inspiration they have to share with you!
