We’re back with the final day and final project of our 10 day Blog Hop! It has been fun to share and to see all of the entries!  I hope you’ve loved seeing them as much as I have!  It has been equally great to see each project up close on the rest of the team members’ blogs as it was to see them on the boards at convention!  There was a huge appreciation (and a tug at the heart strings) for seeing our projects on display with each finalists name (I can’t wait to follow the rest of the finalists blog hop starting tomorrow!) and there is a whole new level of appreciation for seeing and reading about all of the little details that you just can’t see from a couple of feet away! Thank-you again for stopping in to our blogs each day to let us share our creations and thank-you again to all of my fellow team members for creating and sharing all of your projects for myself and for all to be inspired!  I am among some seriously fabulous talent and can’t wait to share the year with these girls and to see what they come up with!

 

On with my project!  My final project is my 2nd 3D project, my paper Hot Air Balloon!  It was one of the first projects I completed and after snapping some not-so-great photos of it, I set it aside to get working on the rest, determined to come back to it to fix two little details and take some nice photos…. but, in my crazy rush to finish all of my projects and get them off to Fedex to meet the shipping deadline I ran out of time to fix up the details AND to get nice photos. I hope these ones will suffice!

 

All of our creations are hard to part with, but this is one that was particularly hard!  I think it was the fave creation of all of my friends who saw it before I shipped it off too!  I bought more DSP before it retired so I could make another one.. let’s hope I get around to it!

I created the balloon by using a stamp image from Up, Up & Away in MDS.  I then imported it into my e-cutter and cut all of the pieces that I needed to create the balloon.  I cut them from World Spectacular DSP and the Regals and In-color DSP.  It required a LOT of DSP but I loved how all of the patterns came together in the balloon.. it was actually a lot of playing around to make sure that no colors repeated themselves from one panel to the next in EACH direction.

After creating the balloon, which wasn’t hard, just time consuming I needed to add a banner all the way around for extra embellishment and as a means to keep each of the panels equally spaced.   Every single panel is glued to the back of the banner.  The banner is made by attaching each of those half circles to a piece of 1/8″ taffeta ribbon and then linen thread is layered in front to clean it up and tie the vintage feel of the balloon all together! The rosettes also seemed to do the trick of adding a little extra appeal and I thought that they fit the theme of the balloon.

To create the basket, I decided to try weaving a wood looking basket.  I stamped each of the panels with the Woodgrain Background stamp and after weaving them together I lined the basket with another piece of DSP from World Spectacular.  I missed photographing it in my quest to take better photos later (I know, I should always know better!), so this one was snapped while it was on display at convention.

Here is my balloon hanging on display… I would have gladly helped them take it down after convention and brought it home with me… we had room in the van too, it was pretty packed but I would have made it happen!

Many of you know that my family came along for the first time and we made the long drive to convention this year.  We made a fun family vacation out of it and created family memories of our first really long road trip!  We toured Utah and went to the Grand Canyon and loved the beauty and all of the activities (well the few we could fit in) that Utah has to offer.   If you have ever thought about going early or staying late when you travel to convention and seeing more of the area, you won’t regret it if you decide to go for it!  We could have stayed much, much longer and hope to do it again one day!

 

Since the boys showed up to the Salt Palace soon after we got to see our display boards, I couldn’t resist a photo op of them in front of mine and Kaitlyn’s board.  It was kind of like their little Wall of Fame with their photos being the focal point of my scrapbook pages!  They were super sweet and supportive the whole way through the process.  They sent drawings with me to awards night while we awaited the announcement of the 2013 ADT members.  .. they jumped up and down when I sent Ryan the announcement and made me cards and pictures in the hotel room while they waited for me to return after awards night.  I have to say, it turned out to be a pretty great convention to have them come to Utah with me! Lookin’ a little shy, here they are!
