2013 Artisan Design Team Blog Hop ~ Project 3

Today is Day 3 of sharing our Artisan Entries. Β It is still as exciting for me to see them here in the hop as it was on the boards at convention.. actually I think it’s more exciting now!

I love that we all get to share our projects together! Again today you might have come here from Mercedes Weber’s Blog. I love her style! And if you’re just starting with me be sure to hop on over to Becky Cowley’s Blog next. Β She has such a fun style too and I’m feeling lucky to be in between such talent!

I have another card to share with you today! Β The hexagon shape is a fun trend in the crafting world right now and I couldn’t wait to play with this shape! Β I also love the combo of yellow, black and white and think that bumble bees (of the paper kind only) are really sweet! So, I combined all of these things and came up with this card.

At first glance, this might look like it was done with the hexagon punch, but because our entries were due in May, I actually created this one before the hexagon punch existed for us. Β Since I didn’t have a real life punch to use, I played around in MDS to be able to get this shape! Β I applied the hexagon punch in MDS and then cut multiples of it with an e-cutter. Β It actually turns out to be almost the size of our current punch so you could easily achieve this effect with just your hexagon punch if you don’t have an e-cutter. Β I temporarily adhered hexagons cut out of cardstock to the Whisper White layer and sponged the honeycomb pattern with Basic Black ink onto the Whisper White Layer. Β I then removed all of the honeycombs to reveal the honeycomb sponged effect. I had also cut a few honeycombs out of Daffodil Delight DSP (now retired in that pattern) and applied them randomly to add some color and tie the card together. Β The greeting and bumble bee are both stamped in versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder. Β I love the crispness of using black powder when I want a black image. Β You definitely want an Embossing Buddy to go with that! Β The rest of my card is pretty simple. Β I didn’t get a snapshot of the inside of my cards to share. I think I had a layer with some matching DSP inside. Β Supplies are listed below.

We’ll be back tomorrow with project number 4! Til then, don’t forget to hop back to Mercedes or on to Becky! Here are the buttons to help you along!
