Welcome again to more of my Leadership Display Projects! These two projects are two different takes and themes on the Geometrical stamp set… I see so many cute banners made with this set! .. and the greetings are cute too! I love it when a set has both images and greetings that are fun to use!
Using a sketch when you’ve got lots of cards to make is a huge help! Do you ever use sketches?! What are your go-to sketch sites or challenges?! Triangles are a hot trend right now, so there was no shortage of ideas and inspiration when it came to this set!
This card was actually my first creation out of all 26. I like a fun chalkboard look with a pop of color and it kind of set the tone for the next card too!
Did you know that there is a triangle punch to co-ordinate with this set? .. we actually didn’t have it yet when we created these samples (I’ll explain more on that for the next card), so I stamped the images from Geometrical in a variety of colors, hand cut them and then sewed them onto the Basic Black layer of CS pointing at the greeting stamped in Whisper White craft ink. I always love a sprinkling of what some of my stampers call ‘junk’ (haha!) on a card but am never quite confident to pull it off. This one has a simple sprinkling of candy dots to co-ordinate with the triangles. I think I like it!
My next card has some of the same elements but a whole different theme. I went with Valentines for this one. This one was a total take on a card I saw on Pinterest in soft pretty colors (kinda reminded me of a romantic picnic) and when we released this set, I knew I wanted to remake it.
This one has a little more of what is lovingly or not-so-lovingly referred to as ‘junk’ on it than the last one.. that little scattering of DSP scraps and bling sprinkled about. When a card or a page has a bit of white space that looks out of place (this is different that white space that is balanced nicely . .haha.. oh, I can be a crazy stamper, I know!) I like to throw on a bit of scraps that are laying around and although I struggle with where to place the sprinkling of bling, I love how it looks in the end so I try and try again to make it work. Do you ever struggle with wanting to pull something off in your stamping but aren’t sure just how to do it?!
So, without the triangle punch to punch out the triangles of DSP, I stamped the triangles on the backside of the DSP that I wanted and hand cut them all out to line them up to make the border on the left and the banner hanging on the chalkboard. This would have been MUCH easier and faster with the punch and so now I’m excited to remake this card with the punch in hand! I sewed both the banner and the border onto the card and embellished just a bit with the ‘junk’. <wink> ..now in this case those scraps of DSP really were junk since they were literally just sitting at my workspace waiting to be used or hit the trash as they were the pieces that were left over from between the triangles when I hand cut them out. It worked out nicely and they were saved from the dreaded trash pile! .. until you mass produce such cards or do them in a class, then you find yourself intentionally and willingly cutting up DSP to create ‘scraps’.
There’s a little bit of texture on the card base too. I used Perfect Polka Dots to give it a little bit of something extra.
